Inditech Middle East Achieves ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Certification: Raising the Bar for Retail IT Security in the GCC

For more than a thousand businesses across the UAE and the wider GCC, Inditech Middle East is part of how they run day to day. Our systems ring up sales at the checkout, track stock across stores, count footfall in malls and airports, run loyalty programs, and submit e-invoices to tax authorities. Behind every one of those transactions is data: customer details, sales figures, pricing, employee records, and financial information. Our clients trust us to keep it safe.

Today we’re proud to announce that this trust is backed by the latest international standard. Inditech Middle East is now certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022, the world’s most widely recognised standard for information security management. The certification was awarded by ISO after an independent audit of our people, processes, and technology.

What Is ISO/IEC 27001:2022?

ISO/IEC 27001 is published jointly by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It sets out what an organisation needs to establish, run, maintain and keep improving an Information Security Management System (ISMS). An ISMS is a structured, company-wide way of managing sensitive information.

The standard is built around three principles:

  • Confidentiality: information is only accessible to people who are authorised to see it.
  • Integrity: data stays accurate and complete, protected from unauthorised changes.
  • Availability: systems and information are there when the business needs them.

Why the 2022 Version Matters

ISO/IEC 27001:2022 is the latest edition of the standard. It replaced the 2013 version to reflect today’s threat landscape. Its controls are organised into four clear themes: Organisational, People, Physical and Technological. It also adds new controls that address modern risks directly, including:

  • Threat intelligence: gathering and acting on information about emerging threats.
  • Information security for cloud services: securing how cloud platforms are adopted, used and managed.
  • Data leakage prevention and data masking: stopping sensitive information from being exposed or shared by accident.
  • Secure coding: building security into software from the first line of code.
  • Monitoring activities and configuration management: detecting unusual behaviour early and keeping systems securely configured.

For a company that develops retail software, runs cloud-connected POS and analytics platforms, and supports thousands of users remotely, these controls are directly relevant to how we work every day.

Why It Matters for Retailers

Retail is one of the most data-intensive industries there is. Every POS terminal, loyalty sign-up, CCTV camera and e-invoice creates information that has to be protected:

  • Customer expectations: Shoppers share personal details in exchange for personalised offers. They expect that data to be handled responsibly.
  • Regulatory pressure: UAE e-invoicing, ZATCA e-invoicing in Saudi Arabia, and data protection laws such as the UAE PDPL and Saudi PDPL require businesses and their technology partners to handle data securely.
  • Operational risk: A compromised POS system or a ransomware attack can stop sales across every store in a chain within minutes.

What Our Clients Gain

1. Independent assurance. Our security practices have been verified against the latest version of the standard by an accredited third party.

2. Faster procurement and onboarding. Large retail groups, mall operators and airport retailers often ask vendors to complete detailed security questionnaires. ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification answers many of them directly.

3. Stronger compliance posture. Whether a client is rolling out UAE e-invoicing, integrating with ZATCA, connecting to Nabidh, or enabling tax-free shopping, an ISO 27001:2022-certified partner supports its own audit obligations.

4. Secure solutions from end to end. This certification sits alongside our SIRA certification for CCTV and security installations and our PEPPOL certification for e-invoicing. Together they cover retail security from physical premises to digital transactions.

5. Reliable uptime and support. Business continuity and incident management controls mean stronger backup, recovery and response procedures behind our IT AMC and managed services.

Security as Part of Our Culture

Technology alone doesn’t protect data. People do. Our auditors looked not just at our systems but at how our teams actually work. From the engineer installing a POS terminal to the support executive handling a remote session, every Inditech team member understands their role in protecting client information.

We’re committed to continual improvement. Regular risk reviews, internal audits, staff training, and annual surveillance audits will keep our ISMS current as threats and regulations evolve.
